Having trained in PEM in Canada, I came to Birmingham Children's Hospital as a PEM consultant in 1994. I have been particularly interested in training and served as the first Chair of the Paediatric Emergency Medicine Specialist advisory committe, formalising a curriculum and training program in the subspecialty. as Chair, I would like to see further engagment with our emergency medicine colleagues and development of paeds EM networks throught the country as well as taking forward robust research within the subspecialty.
Dr Ffion Davies
Position: College of Emergency Medicine Representative
Dr Ffion Davies is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine with a special interest in paediatrics, who works at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. She likes to demystify paediatrics for Emergency Medicine clinicians and likes to challenge the scope of practice in Emergency Departments so that children get a better deal. Sometimes Royal Colleges and even the Department of Health listen to her.

Dr Ian Maconochie
Position: Research Advisor
A member since 1996 of BPAEG. I helped to found APEM and was elected Secretary of APEM in 2002. Its establishment has led to paediatric emergency medicine being recognised as a specialty, with considerable support and help from FAEM/BAEM (which has continued as the FCEM) and RCPCH. I was appointed as Chair in August 2003 (alongisde with the role of Specialty Convenor for APEM) and stepped down in 2009, taking up the post of research lead for APEM. I am a training adviser to the Accident and Emergency CSAC at the RCPCH, since 2006 (to demit in 2010 after the Autumn meeting).
Dr Sarah Pyper

I am the Paediatric PEM trainee representative, I'm currently a grid trainee at Alderhey hospital, Liverpool. I qualified from UCL in 2000 and live near Chester with my husband and 2 children.

Julia is a Paediatric Emergency Medicine Consultant at the Children's Emergency Dept of the Royal Derby Hospital. She describes her interests as:

Dr Katie Wright
Position: EMTA Representative
Katie graduated from Sheffield in 2000 and did house jobs at Sheffield Childrens and Northern General before moving to B'ham for adult medical SHO rotation. She then switched to Emergency Medicine with dual accreditation in Paediatric EM. She is currently at B'ham Children's ED.
Interests include teaching, trauma, ultrasound and sedation and am heading up the ED adolescent care interest group. She is the Trainee representative on regional training committee, postgraduate school board and lead for less than full time trainees as well as being on the organising committee for the EMTA 2008 conference.
